VR Hire Basingstoke

A 1,100-seat concert hall a walk from the station, a hotel with fifteen meeting rooms, and a museum built as Victorian and 1930s streets you can hire whole. North Hampshire's corporate town has more to work with than its reputation allows.

Local knowledge

We know Basingstoke's venues

Basingstoke is built around the Ringway, a ring road of roundabouts, with a pedestrian precinct in the middle — so venue access happens through service yards rather than off the street. The practical consequence is that you commit to a ring-road junction before you arrive, and picking the wrong one means going round again. We plan the approach per venue, which is unglamorous but is the difference between a calm arrival and a lap of the town with a loaded van.

The venue set is unusually purpose-built. The Anvil is a proper 1,100-seat concert hall, the Ark was built as a conference centre, and the Hampshire Court out at Chineham pairs twelve suites with an arena space. Milestones Museum is the wildcard — full Victorian and 1930s street sets, hired privately, and a far more memorable backdrop than another hotel function room. One caution: Anvil Arts operates three separate buildings, so confirm which one your booking is actually in.

Travel & booking

The practical bit

Travel

Travel across Basingstoke and north Hampshire is included, with the Ringway junction chosen per venue before we set off. Business-park venues offer the easiest load-ins; precinct-adjacent ones get a service-yard slot agreed in advance.

Booking

Autumn conference season is the real squeeze here rather than Christmas, though December Fridays still want six weeks. Summer is genuinely open.

Basingstoke FAQs

Good questions, straight answers

Why does the ring road matter to a supplier?
Because the centre is a pedestrian precinct and venues are served from yards off the Ringway, you effectively choose your junction before arriving. Get it wrong and it's another circuit. We plan the approach per venue so it never costs setup time.
Can you hire somewhere with more character than a hotel?
Milestones Museum is the answer here — full Victorian and 1930s street sets, available for private hire. A leaderboard final in a recreated Edwardian street is a photograph people actually keep.
Do you cover Newbury, Andover and north Hampshire?
Yes, along with Alton, Farnborough and down towards Winchester, with mileage itemised before you book. North Hampshire is a single run for us.
What space does an office event need?
One station in a cleared 3m × 3m, or roughly 8m × 6m for a four-station tournament with a spectator screen. The Chineham and Houndmills business-park floors generally clear the larger figure easily.
How much notice is sensible?
Two weeks handles most dates; December wants six. The purpose-built venues here book on the conference calendar, so autumn tightens earlier than the party season does.
Which Anvil Arts building should we book?
Depends on the event: The Anvil is the 1,100-seat concert hall, while The Haymarket and The Forge are smaller and more flexible. They're separate buildings under one banner, so confirming which is important.
