Stockport's geography is dominated by the M60 running straight through the middle of town, and Junction 1 is a well-known peak-hour bottleneck. Add the Town Centre Access Plan's reworked one-way system around the Interchange and the ongoing works through 2026, and you have a town where the route in matters more than the distance. We plan it in advance. There's no charging clean-air zone anywhere in Greater Manchester either, so none of this reaches your invoice.

Edgeley Park runs seven event spaces with The 1883 taking up to eight hundred, Bramall Hall gives you a Tudor Great Hall in seventy acres of parkland out at Bramhall, and the Stockport Plaza is a properly restored 1930s art deco cinema. Worth knowing that Bramall Hall and the Town Hall are both booked through the council's events team rather than directly — one phone call covers two of the best rooms in the borough.
