Wolverhampton's road layout has a wrinkle that catches out first-time suppliers: West Midlands Metro trams run on-street through the centre to Pipers Row and on to the railway station, so the station approaches are tram-priority with genuinely restricted vehicle access, and the ring road is the only real through route. We plan the drop point with your venue rather than trusting a satnav to understand a tram lane, and load-ins land on time as a result.

The venues themselves are unusually generous with space. Dunstall Park gives us 22 acres, rooms seating up to 600 theatre-style and around 1,500 free parking spaces — for a multi-station build with a big guest list that's about as easy as England gets. Molineux sits right in the city centre with suites up to 500, and The Halls reopened after a long refurbishment with the Civic at 2,000 and the Wulfrun at 800. Between them there's very little a Black Country company could want to run that the town can't hold.
