VR Hire Kingston upon Thames

A riverside theatre seating nine hundred, a country house on Kingston Hill, and a theme park that opens after dark. South-west London's shopping capital has more range than its high street suggests.

Local knowledge

We know Kingston upon Thames's venues

The town-centre one-way gyratory combined with Kingston Bridge is a permanent bottleneck rather than a rush-hour one, so a drop point gets agreed with your venue rather than attempted on arrival. The whole borough sits inside the ULEZ too — £12.50 daily for an older non-compliant van, which ours aren't, so it stays off your quote entirely. Neither is difficult; both need somebody who's worked here before rather than someone following a postcode.

The Rose Theatre is the anchor, taking up to around 900 on the riverside. Warren House up on Kingston Hill offers boardrooms and meeting suites in a country-house setting that feels a long way from the Bentall Centre. And Chessington World of Adventures — technically in the borough, though about seven miles south — does after-hours park access alongside the Serengeti Suite for 275, which is a genuinely different sort of company day.

Travel & booking

The practical bit

Travel

Kingston and Greater London come with travel built in, ULEZ included. Town-centre bookings get a drop point agreed ahead of time, because the gyratory and the bridge do not improve with optimism.

Booking

December mirrors the capital from September onwards. Chessington's after-hours packages book furthest ahead, particularly through the summer season.

Kingston upon Thames FAQs

Good questions, straight answers

Does ULEZ appear on the quote?
No. The borough is in the zone, and an older non-compliant van would pay £12.50 a day, but ours are compliant. It's worth confirming an out-of-capital supplier runs theirs are.
How bad is the town-centre traffic for a load-in?
The gyratory and Kingston Bridge are a constant rather than a peak-hour issue, so we agree where the van goes with the venue well ahead and work to it. That single step removes most of the risk.
Can you really run something at Chessington?
Yes — the Serengeti Suite takes 275 and after-hours park access is part of what they offer. It's about seven miles south of Kingston proper and works as an evening event rather than a daytime one.
What suits a riverside venue?
Sailing, unsurprisingly — in a town this dominated by rowing, a virtual regatta lands better than it would anywhere inland. Golf and archery round out the rest of the room.
Do you cover into Surrey from here?
Esher, Epsom, Sutton, Twickenham and out to Woking and Guildford are all short runs, with mileage quoted before you agree.
Can you set up at the rowing club?
Yes — the riverside clubhouse between Kingston Bridge and Teddington Lock is a characterful spot for a smaller group, and the sailing format lands especially well there for obvious reasons.
