VR Hire Oxford

The Examination Schools take 440 in the grandest room in the city, the Kassam runs 38 spaces with two thousand parking places, and Saïd Business School sits between them. Oxford's venues are extraordinary and its access rules are stricter than anywhere else we cover.

Local knowledge

We know Oxford's venues

Oxford operates a Zero Emission Zone across nine central streets, charging any petrol or diesel van a daily fee between 7am and 7pm. That is a materially tighter rule than the clean air zones elsewhere — it catches compliant diesels too, not just old ones. We plan get-ins around the hours or use an electric vehicle, and either way it stays off your quote. Add the pedestrianised college quarter and the answer is always the same: the loading window gets agreed before anything is confirmed.

Outside the ring road it inverts entirely. The Kassam Stadium's conference centre offers 38 spaces and around two thousand parking places, which after the city centre feels almost decadent. Worth flagging that Oxford United have been pursuing a move to a new ground, so the football side's long-term future there is uncertain — the conference operation trades separately, but it's worth confirming at the time of booking. Saïd's Egrove Park campus gives another out-of-centre option with parking attached.

Travel & booking

The practical bit

Travel

Oxford and the surrounding county have travel included, Zero Emission Zone included. City-centre bookings get their loading window and vehicle sorted before confirmation — in this city that rule is enforced by camera rather than goodwill.

Booking

Term dates, graduation weeks and conference season all compress availability. Vacations are the sweet spot, and A December Friday wants six weeks' warning as everywhere.

Oxford FAQs

Good questions, straight answers

How does the Zero Emission Zone affect our event?
It affects our vehicle, not your budget. Nine central streets charge any petrol or diesel van daily between 7am and 7pm — stricter than a normal clean air zone, since it catches compliant diesels too. We work around the hours or bring an electric vehicle.
Can you set up inside a college?
Yes, and we do. Colleges have their own access rules and a domestic bursar who enforces them, so we take that up directly and agree floor protection and carry routes well ahead of the date.
Where's the easiest venue for a large group?
The Kassam's conference centre — 38 spaces and around two thousand parking places, all outside the restricted zone. For a four-station tournament with a real crowd it's the least complicated option in Oxfordshire.
Is the Kassam's future secure?
The football club has been pursuing a new stadium elsewhere, so worth confirming at the time you book. The conference and events operation trades separately from the football, but we'd rather flag it than have you find out later.
Do you cover Bicester, Banbury and the county?
All of them, plus Witney, Abingdon and Didcot, with distance itemised on the quote. Oxfordshire's country-house venues are equally regular ground.
