VR Hire Derby

Rail engineering, aero engines and a UNESCO mill valley — Derby's industrial history has left it with event rooms nobody expects. A restored railway roundhouse, a velodrome infield, and a Georgian silk mill on the Derwent. Hosted VR sports, delivered to all of them.

Local knowledge

We know Derby's venues

Almost everything of scale sits in the Pride Park cluster east of the centre, and it's one of the easiest venue clusters in England to work. Derby Arena's velodrome infield takes several thousand, the football stadium runs eleven event spaces with 350 free parking places attached, and the county cricket ground is a few minutes further on. Level access, proper power, somewhere to leave a van — the unglamorous things that decide whether a setup hour is actually an hour.

The characterful rooms are elsewhere and worth the detour. The Roundhouse is a genuinely restored railway engine shed that scales from 25 to 2,500, and the Museum of Making occupies the Grade II listed Silk Mill on the Derwent, part of the UNESCO-designated Derwent Valley Mills. Derby also rejected a charging clean-air zone in favour of traffic-flow measures, so there's no daily fee anywhere — though the A52 Wyvern corridor that feeds Pride Park gets resurfaced and night-closed with some regularity, which we check before confirming a load-in.

Travel & booking

The practical bit

Travel

Travel across Derby is included, and the Pride Park cluster makes most bookings unusually simple to service — park on site, roll the cases in, build. We check A52 works and match fixtures before confirming times.

Booking

Derby's diary is calmer than Nottingham's next door. Six weeks ahead for a December Friday; most other dates are comfortable on a fortnight, and county cricket weeks only affect venues on the ground itself.

Derby FAQs

Good questions, straight answers

Is there a clean-air charge in Derby?
There isn't one. Derby turned down a charging scheme in favour of traffic-flow measures, so driving into the centre or out to Pride Park costs you nothing extra.
Can you set up at Pride Park or Derby Arena?
Both are excellent rooms for us. Level access, generous power, and free parking on site, which is rarer than it should be. Once the date is held we settle arrival and build times directly with the venue's own events staff.
Does the A52 ever cause delays?
It's the main artery to the Pride Park venue cluster and it sees regular resurfacing and overnight closures. We check roadworks before confirming a load-in time rather than trusting a satnav on the day.
Do you cover the Peak District and wider Derbyshire?
Yes. Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell and the hotels scattered beyond them are all bookable, and travel further out quoted separately. Firm level standing and a standard socket per station is all a rural venue needs to provide.
What suits an engineering-heavy guest list?
Racing and drone racing, without much doubt. Both reward precision and both produce a leaderboard that a room full of engineers will interrogate with genuine seriousness. Archery balances it nicely.
