It's running one lane each way through 2026 with periodic overnight full closures, and scaffolding goes onto the deck in autumn 2026 — so any delivery to the south bank routes via the Swing or Redheugh bridges instead, with contingency built in. The venues are excellent. The Glasshouse — renamed from Sage Gateshead in 2024, though the halls are still Sage One and Sage Two and the old web domain still resolves, which confuses listings badly — offers 1,640 and 600 seats respectively. BALTIC's Level 1 takes 250 for a reception, and the Hilton sits within a short walk of both. Gateshead International Stadium covers the larger festival and expo end.
