VR Hire St Helens

A rugby league stadium with lounges and boxes, a racecourse across 127 acres that scales to twenty thousand, and a glass museum in the town centre. St Helens sits at the junction of two motorway corridors and has the venues to justify it.

Local knowledge

We know St Helens's venues

Haydock Park racedays and Saints matchdays both feed onto the A580 East Lancs Road and junction 23 of the M6, which is the single pinch point for essentially every delivery into this borough. When both land on the same weekend the effect compounds. We check both calendars against your date before setting an arrival time — a simple lookup that has saved several jobs from starting late.

The racecourse is the biggest asset by a distance: 127 acres handling everything from a small meeting to twenty thousand people, with parking that reflects the scale. The stadium was renamed the BrewDog Stadium in October 2025 on a ten-year deal, having been the Totally Wicked Stadium before that and Langtree Park before 2017 — the club's own pages and most directories still show the old name, which causes genuine confusion for guests trying to find it.

Travel & booking

The practical bit

Travel

St Helens and the Haydock corridor carries travel at no extra cost. Arrival times get checked against both the racing and rugby calendars, since the A580 and M6 junction 23 serve almost every venue in the borough.

Booking

Racedays and December are the two things worth planning around. Otherwise the borough is open and Haydock in particular has capacity nobody local seems to use.

St Helens FAQs

Good questions, straight answers

Which stadium name will our guests find?
It's the BrewDog Stadium as of October 2025, but the club's own pages and most directories still say Totally Wicked. Worth putting the address on the invite rather than the name — that's the practical fix.
Do racedays affect access?
They do. Haydock racedays and Saints matchdays both feed onto the A580 and M6 junction 23, which serves nearly everything here. We check both calendars before setting an arrival time.
How big can an event get at Haydock?
As big as you like — 127 acres scaling to twenty thousand people. For a four-station tournament it's absurdly generous, and the parking never becomes a conversation.
Can you run something in the glass museum?
Yes, and it's a distinctive setting for a smaller event. Floor protection and the drop point get agreed with their team as with any museum space.
Do you cover Widnes, Runcorn and the corridor?
Both, plus Newton-le-Willows and across to Warrington and Wigan, and the drive priced before you agree.
Is the Mercure a practical option?
Four named suites — Chalon, Pyramid, Pilkington and Prescott — covering most mid-sized briefs, with easier access than the stadium on a matchday. A sensible fallback when Haydock and the ground are both busy.
