Why VR

Team building people don't secretly dread

Everyone can play

No fitness, height or experience barriers — the intern and the FD compete on equal terms, and the surprise champions are half the fun.

Real competition

Live leaderboards, team rounds and a finals bracket produce actual cheering — not the polite clapping that haunts most away days.

Zero admin for you

We bring, build, host and pack down. You book a room, draft the teams, and take the credit.

The format

A 2-hour office takeover

The format Manchester teams book most — qualifying, finals and a podium, all inside the working afternoon.

0:00 Arrival & setup

We build 2–4 stations while your team finishes their coffee — about an hour, no venue drama, no IT involvement.

0:60 Qualifying rounds

Teams rotate through VR golf, racing and archery — every score feeds the leaderboard and the floor picks its favourites.

1:45 The finals

Top four battle it out on the big screen with the whole floor watching. Expect noise complaints from the quiet meeting room.

2:00 Podium & prizes

Medals, photos, bragging rights that last until the next quarter. We pack down while the debrief moves to the pub.

How it plays in Manchester

Manchester's office culture was built for this format. Spinningfields and city-centre firms book the two-hour takeover as a Thursday or Friday energiser; MediaCityUK and Northern Quarter agencies tend to go louder — full sports-day formats with team names that HR pretends not to have seen. Either way it runs on your own floor: flight-cased kit, standard lifts, building management squared away before the day.

There's also a practical Manchester advantage: when your team's split between the city and satellite offices along the M60, your office is the one venue everyone can actually reach — no cross-Pennine coach, no minimum-spend party room. Run it in the afternoon and the leaderboard final doubles as the send-off into Deansgate for the evening.

Manchester FAQs

Asked before every booking

Can it run across two floors of our building?
Yes — we split stations across floors and run one combined leaderboard, with the finals staged wherever the bigger crowd fits. It's a popular setup in the taller Deansgate and Spinningfields buildings.
How many colleagues does the standard format suit?
The 90-minute Energiser suits up to 20; the two-to-three-hour Office Takeover comfortably rotates 60. Beyond that we build a Virtual Sports Day with group stages — 150+ is routine with the right room.
Do people need to be gamers for this to land?
The opposite — the controls are natural swings, draws and steering, taught in thirty seconds. Manchester's most decorated champion so far has been a self-declared technophobe from a finance team, which is exactly how the leaderboard should behave.
Can we combine it with drinks or food?
Please do — the format's built for it. Most teams run rounds first and podium during drinks; we'll happily coordinate timings with your caterer or the venue's bar so the finals hit peak crowd.
What's the real all-in cost for a 40-person Manchester team?
The Office Takeover covers it: around £22 a head all-in — kit, host, leaderboards, Greater Manchester travel. No hidden 'facilitation fee', no venue minimum spend.
Can we run it as a half-day rather than an afternoon?
Easily. The Company Showdown format stretches to a half day with group stages, a knockout round and a proper prize-giving — it suits a company-wide date better than the two-hour version, and Manchester's larger venues have the floor space for it.
